David Borwein was a Lithuanian born mathematician, brought up in South Africa, who taught in St Andrews, Scotland, for 13 years before spending the rest of his career at the University of Western Ontario, Canada. He wrote 160 papers, mostly on sequences, series, summability and number theory.
