The Chisholms moved to Church Lane House, Haslemere when Grace Chisholm (Young) (1868-1944) was five years old. Her father Henry William Chisholm, a civil servant, was from 1867-1877 the first and only Warden of the Standards, responsible for erecting the standard measures in Trafalgar Square.
