In Safeway's (now Morrison's) Supermarket, Solihull, on 14 March 1995, shoppers made the first UK trial of self-scanning shopping. The first customer was a Jane Skinner. Rescan of her £28.36 trolley found some discounts and reduced the bill to £27.61. [1]
