Peter Pinkerton studied at Glasgow and Dublin. After teaching at various schools he became Rector of Glasgow High School.

Biography

Peter Pinkerton's father was John Pinkerton (born in Ireland in 1833) who was a foreman boiler maker. His mother was Mary Harvey (born in Stromness, Orkney in 1835). Peter Pinkerton had five older brothers: William (born about 1855), David (born about 1857), John (born about 1859), Robert (born about 1862) and James (born about 1864). He had a younger brother Samuel (born about 1873).
