BMC General Meeting: Exeter

Minutes for the General Meeting of the British Mathematical
Colloquium, Wednesday 25th June 2025, from 1340, at the
Exeter BMC-BAMC


  1. Attendance and apologies
    The meeting was held immediately prior to the London Mathematical
    Society Meeting and was attended by approximately 40 attendees of
    the BMC-BAMC and members of the Scientific Committee.
    Apologies had been received from Elizabeth Fisher (London Mathe-
    matical Society), Simon Goodwin (Birmingham), Timothy Logvinenko
    (Cardiff) and Jes´us Martinez-Garcia (Essex).

  2. Minutes of the previous meeting
    The minutes of the previous General Meeting held at the Manchester
    BMC on Wednesday 19th June 2024 were presented and accepted.

  3. Introduction
    The Chair of the Scientific Committee, Jan Grabowski, introduced
    himself and explained the purpose of the General meeting. The Sci-
    entific Committee was also introduced to those present. Thanks were
    given to David Mart´ı-Pete (Liverpool) who had been the attendee rep-
    resentative for the Manchester BMC.

  4. BMC Attendee Representative at the Scientific Committee
    The Chair invited volunteers to attend the meeting of the Scientific
    Committee in Autumn 2025, to provide attendee feedback on the Ex-
    eter BMC.

  5. Future meetings of the BMC
    Attendees were informed that the next BMC would be held in Cardiff,
    from 30th March-2nd April 2026. The plenary speakers will be
    • Cristiana de Filippis (Parma)
    • Dennis Gaitsgory (Bonn)
    • Mikhail Kapranov (IPMU, Tokyo)
    • Yoshiko Ogata (RIMS, Kyoto)
    • Nike Sun (MIT)
    • Peter Vajru (Cambridge)
    The public lecture will be given by Jens Marklof (Bristol).
    The workshops will be in Algebra, Geometry, Analysis, Partial Differ-
    ential Equations, Mathematical Physics, Probability and Outreach.
    1Galene Luo invited the BMC to visit Birmingham in 2027 and this
    was approved by vigorous applause.

  6. The Mathsci-comm network
    The Chair presented a slide on the newly-established Mathsci-comm
    network and interested colleagues were directed to the website at
    https://mathsci-comm.maths.org/.

  7. Thanks to the organisers of the Exeter BMC-BAMC
    The Chair invited attendees to show their appreciation of the Organ-
    ising Committee of the Exeter BMC-BAMC, along with all who had
    contributed to the event:
