Ramaswamy Vaidyanathaswamy was an Indian mathematician who made outstanding contributions to the development of mathematics in India. He was an outstanding teacher and researcher who inspired a whole generation of mathematicians. He made a major contribution to the Indian Mathematical Society as the editor of its journal and as its president.
