Robert Franklin Muirhead explained, referring to a paper he had read before the society in the beginning of the session, that the same problem had been worked out by W. Wallace in his "Geometrical Theorems and Analytical Formulae", published in Edinburgh in 1839.
It was agreed that John Sturgeon Mackay, Donald Cameron McIntosh (secretary) and James Archibald (treasurer) should make arrangements as to securing copies for the society of George Alexander Gibson's paper on Proportions.
