Mathematical Gazetteer of the British Isles

Thomas Pennington (= Penyngton) Kirkman (1806-1895), of the fifteen schoolgirls, was curate-in-charge of Christ Church, Croft, from 1838/9 to 1845 and then rector until 1891. He, his wife and others of his family are buried in a family grave to the west of the church. In 1981, [1] reported that the monument had fallen, but in 1992, [2] refer to a cross on a plinth, apparently standing. The east window in the church is a memorial to him and there is a photograph of him in the church.
