St Mary's Church, Ottery St Mary, has a clock from about 1334 [1]. [2] says "Its age must be largely a matter of conjecture but there are some grounds for attributing it to John de Grandisson, Bishop of Exeter 1327-69". It has been considerably restored, but there is some medieval structure. About 1875, it stopped working and J. J. Hall, FRAS, restored it to working order in 1907. It is first recorded in 1437-1438 when there was a payment of 4d for care of the clock It displays the hour on a 24-hour dial, the age and phase of the moon.
