Mathematical Gazetteer of the British Isles


The dockyards of Sheerness were laid out by Samuel Pepys in the early 1660s - recall he was Clerk of Acts to the Navy [1]; [2] -- but the note shows that Pepys' layout was a preliminary to later work.
