Mathematicians Of The Day
6th May
On this day in 1996, Volodymyr Petryshyn killed his wife Arcadia with a hammer, After making a mistake in a proof he feared that he would be ridiculed by his fellow mathematicians and while under the strain of this, he had a complete mental breakdown. He was found not guilty of murder by reason of insanity. He later published Development of mathematical sciences in the Ukraine in Ukrainian in 2004.
On this day in 2013 Google released a Mihailo Petrović doodle.
The postage stamp of one of today's mathematicians at THIS LINK was issued in 1993.

Quotation of the day
From André Weil
God exists since mathematics is consistent, and the Devil exists since we cannot prove it.
