Mathematicians Of The Day

3rd November

On this day in 1726, James Stirling was elected a fellow of the Royal Society after being proposed by Newton. In 1753 he resigned from the Royal Society as he could no longer afford the annual subscriptions.

The postage stamp of one of today's mathematicians at THIS LINK was issued in 2010.
