Mathematicians Of The Day

8th April

On this day in 1019, Al-Biruni observed an eclipse of the sun at Lamghan, north of Kabul. He wrote:-
... at sunrise we saw that approximately one-third of the sun was eclipsed and that the eclipse was waning.

The postage stamp of one of today's mathematicians at THIS LINK was issued in 1932.

Quotation of the day
