Mathematicians Of The Day

8th September

On this day in 1965, building work on the Mathematical Institute in St Andrews began. Edward Copson cut the first sod with a spade which was subsequently presented to him.

The postage stamp of one of today's mathematicians at THIS LINK was issued in 1971.
