Mathematicians Of The Day
21st February
On this day in 1632, Galileo's epic Dialogue on the Two Chief World Systems was published in Florence, after receiving, what Galileo viewed as permission to write about "the systems of the world" from the new pope, Urban VIII. Greeted with praise from scholars across Europe, it would eventually be Galileo's downfall.

Quotation of the day
From Émile Lemoine
A mathematical truth is neither simple nor complicated in itself, it is.
